Lithuania-Denmark: This is me - who are you?
Welcome to the blog of Cyberhus (Denmark) and Taurage Tarailiai Basic School (Lithuania).
In our project we are focusing on how you can experiment with representing yourself in new media images.
We have chosen the portrait as starting point for our project. Since the portrait and the topic of how to represent oneself is becoming increasingly important in places like online communities, we thought it could be interesting to experiment with and discuss this.
Our project has two main parts:
1. Webpages about Power of Image
The pages consists mainly of these parts:

Artist: Niels

Artist: Vykertas
b. Discussion forum
Here are some excerpts from the discussions:
What significance do profile images have when you add new people to your friend-list or even give out your mobile number?
Some viewpoints from Lystruphave Efterskole:
- The image is a security that you don't give away your number to some strange weirdo.
- You should never give away your number, you can never tell who is on the other side of the screen. You can only be 100% sure with a webcam.
- Friends lists are mostly made in relation to your friends "in real life". The new that are added are mostly friends' friends or people you know a little bit already.
Michael writes:
- You should always use your common sense - although there are some risks involved in using the internet, there is no reason being afraid of using it. You might meet the love of your life and your best friends through the net!
Where are your limits for what is ok to show in a profile image?
Opinions from Lystruphave Efterskole
- you are your own master - if people don't like your image, they can just go somewhere else!
- Profile images should be like portraits, that show your face and not much mroe. Everything else send wrong signals.
- Pictures with naked torsos/revealing shirts should not be published. You never know who is looking at them. It is your own fault if you experience anything bad, if you have these images on the web!
c. Safe use of images - guidelines
2. The event taking place in Cyberhus, Denmark - hopefully with Lithuania on webcam - on the 6th of february.

On the 6th of february Cyberhus - an online club for young people on the web - in cooperation with several partners, have chosen to host an IT-workshop, where the kids can engage in several activities relating to the topic "This is me - who are you - Power of Image". The event is kick-started by the local politician, Louise Gade, who will also write a bit on the blog, hopefully!
We will set up a little portrait studio, where the kids can have their photo taken, and then we will provide access to workstations, where they can take the digital images and transform them according to their wishes and abilities.
We hope to be able to establish a webcam connection with Lithuania, so we can say hello to them and they can be a part of the event as well.
The local artist Signe Klejs will then take the photos and project them on a screen for everyone to see, using an interactive installation, that has been a great success in the Ã…rhus-area.
