In this powerpoint presentation, pupils have prepared a brief overview of the social networking sites. The pupils have visited some of the most popular social networking sites, in order to get familiar with their characteristics. After this they made a small evaluation of this websites.
The second step is to make a profile for each pupil. They all made a profile in MySpace.com, to examine the sign in proccess and the privacy options that the site provides to users.
Pupils learned how to invite friends, contact with other users, create forums, personalize their webpage, publish their interests, etc.
After this we discussed in class about the potential danger that users may face in these websites, and the tips for safe use of them.
We finally ended up with the final guidelines for safe social networking, and created a presentation in Greek and in English language.

Our presentation, named "e-privacy cartoons", is an educational cartoon, which can stand as a poster, concerning dangerous situations children face while surfing on the net, chatting or e-mailing. Our students exploited their humorous and artistic temper and imagination. They worked taking into account new things they have learned the last days about e-privacy.
The educational aim of this proposal is to make other students be aware of some of the dangers behind internet communications by giving tips to avoid them.
In this project, a group of Slovak and Spanish students discussed the topic of e-privacy.
First, they talked about the dangers on the Internet in general, and then answered the questions about chatting, misuse of personal data/photos, cyberbullying, viruses, erotic websites and dangerous information on the Net.
Then a group of computer-savvy students was selected who created a website with blogs and forums where they give more information and provide also space for comments and questions.
Now that the website is ready, both groups of students will read it and comment on what they have learnt.
Welcome
Action "Safe Internet" also in Poland
We are the European School 3 of Brussels, Belgium and Hot Springs Middle School, Arkansas, USA. In each school a team of about 9 students aged about 12-14 worked on the project. We have created a website which analyses various aspects of e-privacy but focuses on social networking sites. The site includes online discussion areas where the students have left comments and the results of a survey which we created and administered to more than 150 students in our two schools. Survey results are analysed and there is an overall conclusion and bibliography. Please visit our website at www.morpheus.cc/e-privacy/e-privacy.htm.

We desided to work upon the power of images on children. Image in an advertisment p.e. is equal or even more powrfull than the slogan or the text in it. On the other hand we try to explore childrens attitude towards internet. If and how they use it. How informed they are about the safe use of it. At the end we compine the two issues into one by making an advertisement using images and powerpoint to show how we should use internet. As we worked along together the two schools we realise that we are all "look like" the same! Having the same anxieties, the same prespective of things, the same fiars, the same problems!! It was a lovely collaboration!!

Looking at social networking sites and using online form filling exercises such as setting up a new e-mail account we looked at what kind of information is requested by these websites when you want to join up. We wanted to see not just what they wanted to know about you, but how private your information remained. Quite a lot of Free sites rely heavily on advertising with all emails containing a link to get the person who receives them to join up too.
Our schools then created two separate presentations. We then had a discussion using Skype where we agreed how to best combine these into one "Safety Online" presentation.

THE LITTLE COMPUTER TAMER'S ABC
The Internet is like a big wide spider web. There are a good spiders, but some spiders are bad and dangerous, too. You have to be careful when you are surfing in Internet!
How do you have to behave safely in Internet?
We think that if you want to know about e-privacy, you have to know about the rules as we.
Keep your mind! It’s important!
1. Don’t use computer for hurting others
2. Don’t cut in others’ doings
3. Don’t sniff in strangers files
4. Don’t use computer for stealing
5. Don’t copy the software if you didn’t pay for it
6. Don’t have the others’ intellectual properties
7. You have to think about social results if you write your own program
8. You have to use computer as to show your respect to other users
If you know and follow for these important rules – you and your virtual friends are protected.

Report
And above all, everybody had much fun!
We are students of the high school "Hilaire de Chardonnet", in Chalon sur Saône, in France and the students of "Centre Scolaire Dames de Marie" in Brussels, in Belgium. Our topic in SID 2007 is e-privacy. Language used : French.
- We had reflexion about vocabulary : what's e-privacy, secure profile, spam...
- We looked for name and logo for the project with brainstormings.
- We looked for informations about safety on Internet and found french and belgium websites on the topic. We exchange about this and put a synthesis of our research on blog : in which occasions could we communicate our personal data ? What are the risks of giving out private information on internet ? What are advices ? What are belgium, french and european law ?
- We create 2 blogs and a logotype and put the results of our research on blogs.
- We used virtual office (Platform) to exchange : forum, files (download and upload). We created email addresses and two blogs. We could analyse e-privacy and safety aspects of these ICT tools when we registered.
- Last, we made movies to illustrate all of these informations. One of them with humour !

St. Paul Interparochial School's Computer Club (located in the state of New Jersey, USA) has partnered together with the Ziburys Secondary School in Lithuania to enter the Safer Internet Day Blogathon Competition. Together we chose the E-Privacy theme and the title of our work is- "Keep It Private Keep It Safe." This title was selected because we are focusing on e-safety and e-privacy issues. Kids our age are experiencing the internet generation. We think kids should be more aware of what can happen if they start to give out personal information. St. Paul Interparochial School's Computer Club developed a web page on the school's website which links to a PowerPoint presentation, a movie clip and a poster focusing on the theme. The Ziburys Secondary School in Lithuania created a leaflet from a questionaire sent out into the school.

Secondary school students from Greece (Geniko Lykeio Didymoteicho) and Slovenija (Šolski center Krško-Sevnica) participated as partners in Safer Internet day 2007 Blogathon Competition. We chose the E-Privacy theme and the title "Internet - a powerful tool or a big trap", because we wanted to explore the awareness of our Internet generation. We made a questionnaire for students on both schools. The main problem that we wanted to explore was if it is wise to show your face and give your personal data to anyone on the net. The part of our project was a meeting on Skype where students from both schools exchanged experiences and thoughts considering our project. A lot of them had their first experience on how it is to see and to be seen on the Internet.
The goal of our project was to make some slogans (easy to remember) which will guide our students while being on the Internet. "Teachers" in our presentation are taken out of Greek mythology - Cyclop, Polyphemus and Odysseus. Slovenian students made slogans, Greek students made drawings and the result is a PowerPoint presentation.
