Track C: European networking for esafety and e-skills
This session will focus on the competencies required to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Speakers will look at the emerging concept of e-Skills and social media, what they mean in terms of opportunities and risks, and pan-EU strategies to equip young people for success in the digital economy. It will also highlight national efforts in this field and discuss concerns and new roles teachers and parents need to take on to help young people become responsible eCitizens in the web 2.0 world. Participants will examine new forms of literacy, including the role of maths, science and technology education as a gateway to e-Skills, and discover some of the on- and offline resources, support materials and lessons that are being used across Europe to develop these. The session will also feature the work of Insafe, the European-wide network coordinated by European Schoolnet and the European e-Skills Week.
