A study on a pond next to our school.

General project idea
Swedish, Irish and …… pupils collaborate and build knowledge together by sharing self produced film clips and discuss them on the video blog, http://blog.eun.org/film2/.
The initial set of themes for the filmmaking is chosen so pupil gets familiar with each others. They describe subjects such as their school, activities during at school day, spare time activities and local community. They learn from each others what life is like in another part of Europe.
Next theme suit are connected to maters dealt with in environmental education. We collaborate, share knowledge about what sustainable energy resources there are available in our surroundings. What energy resources were used yesterday, are in use today and what the solutions are for tomorrow?
When one film theme is finished a new chapter is added to our video blog. We perform local evaluation, discuss the outcome on a live video meeting and then initiate preparations for the next film.
When project comes to an end we conclude all our work by producing our common knowledge as a dvd-film.
I have tried to formulate the ideas we have discussed. So what do you say?

The Spanish delegation visted our school where we compared Irish and Spanish ICT skills. We introduced the Spaniards to the e-Twinning portal. It was their first time seeing it and were more than impressed so much so that they are registered. They were guests of the LEADER programme which oversees the distribution of EU funding for rural projects. Our school has a strong working relation with our local leader- IRD Duhallow.Past pupil Jack Roche, (see pic. later) is President of ELARD which is the EU umbrella body for the leader in each EU country.
These two ladies, Stanciulescu and Neacsa are both student teachers from Universitea Din Pitesti in Romania. They are here as participants in a Comenius 2 project which is co-ordinated from Stranmillis College in Belfast under the brilliant vision and leadership of Mr. Wesley Hamilton. The project is called "Dial -Connect" and you will hear quite a bit about it in the coming years. Republic of Ireland is a partner in this highly innovative undertaking with Paddy Keane from Duagh NS., in Co. Kerry co-ordinating the Irish performance. The two students have already experienced the Irish curriculum in two Tralee schools, Scoil Eoin Baiste, Balloonagh, and Tralee CBS. As well as curriculum activities a social calendar for the students is also operating.
