LIFE final session and Roadmap to eLearning Interoperability

LIFE, an e-learning project focusing on interoperability, will hold its final session on Dec 8 2006. The session takes place in conjunction with European Schoolnet's event called "Round Table: Imagining the future of Schooling" in Brugge, Belgium.

We will be posting about the issues discussed in the event by experts and participants at the Round Table blog at http://blog.eun.org/roundtable/.

The session will focus on interoperability issues in different areas, such as learning content and repositories, accessibility, assessment, administration, learner information, and learning activity. The findings of the project, which are based on expert workshops in each of the area, will be presented and discussed with the participants.

More in particular the session will focus on the ways ahead, and present the Roadmap to eLearning Interoperability, a publication that is one of the outcomes of the LIFE project. The main audience of the session will be the policy makers, industry representatives and academia.

How do young people use social networking tools?

Social networking is one of the hottest topics of 2006, with well known social networks such as MySpace consistently appearing in lists of most-visited sites on the Internet. The November edition of the Insafe newsletter focuses specifically on social networking platforms, and how children can use them effectively and safely. It features perspectives from a variety of European countries, including Denmark, Germany and Austria, as the social networking landscape changes significantly from country to country.

The European Conference on e-Learning is an annual event and the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) has pleasure together with Academic Conferences International to host this year’s conference. We invite researchers, academics and practitioners to present their research findings and work in progress, to come together and exchange ideas and experiences within the field of e-Learning. We aim at creating a conference, with a relaxed Scandinavian atmosphere that has high quality discussions that emphasise subject matter and content.

Copenhagen Business School has around 14,000 students and is thus one of the largest business schools in Europe student wise. The campus is a city campus located in Frederiksberg in a busy business area only a few kilometres from the city centre of Copenhagen. Though Frederiksberg has numerous historic buildings and sites, the majority of the business school buildings today are new and in modern architectural style, some which have won prestigious prizes. The building at Solbjerg Plads will host this 6th ECEL conference and it is conveniently located next to the Frederiksberg shopping centre and the metro station. This provides easy access to the city centre, nearby hotels as well as the airport.

The conference program includes invited keynote speakers, paper presentations in multiple streams, a panel session, as well as trade exhibitions. We invite you to participate in the conference as well as to submit an abstract to a full paper (please see the Call for Paper information). An international review board and an anonymous review will ensure high quality of the accepted papers

The call for papers for this years conference is now open.

With Internet access available to a broad spectrum of technologies including mobile phones, gaming consoles, ultra-mobile PC's, mp3 players and handheld computers, the opportunities for seamless, universal access to personalised learning have never been so close. There is a subtle shift from what has been known as "mobile learning" to "learning while mobile". This paradigm brings vital questions that many leading policy makers, thought leaders and practitioners are not only willing to explore but to share their experience and knowledge.

Conference topics include:

Who will supply education in the 21st Century?
Learning vs Education
Upload vs Download
Inclusion
Motivation
Co-constructed Learning
Serious Gaming
Harnessing Technology = Control or Empowerment?
Personalisation: 'My Learning' vs 'Our' Learning vs 'Their' Learning
Practitioners Voice
Learners Voice
Mobility and BSF
Mobility and Post-16
