Briefing on learning content and standards at BETT

Want to learn more about the future of learning content standards and specifications?

At BETT 2009 you are invited to attend a briefing hosted by Cambridge Global Grid for Learning on behalf of the ASPECT project, a new Best Practice Network coordinated by European Schoolnet (EUN) and supported by the European Commission's eContentplus Programme.

With partners from 15 countries, including 9 Ministries of Education (MoE), four commercial content developers and leading technology providers, ASPECT brings together experts from all international standardisation bodies and consortia active in e-learning in order to improve the adoption of learning technology standards and specifications.

EMINENT conference and eLearning awards a big success

The EMINENT conference took place in Rome on 4-5 December 2008 and brought together around 200 policy-makers and experts in ICT in education in Europe and beyond. A huge number of presentations and discussions took place in the two plenaries and workshop sessions. All of the presentations and speaker details are available on the EMINENT blog.

On the first day, the winners of the eLearning Awards were announced. A Turkish teacher, Elif Zara from Hisar Egitim Vakfi Okullari school located in Kemerburgaz near Istanbul won the Outstanding Teacher award - an impressive achievement, as she is only in her second year of teaching.

AEC-NET awards prizes to top school projects

Yesterday, the Asia-Europe Classroom Connnect Conference awarded prizes to the top three projects organised as part of the project in 2008. All of the projects involved school cooperation between Asian and European member countries of the Asia-Europe Meeting. The six shortlisted projects were led by teachers from Singapore, Poland, Malaysia and Finland.

A judging panel of experts decided on the top three following presentations from each of the teacher coordinators.

The winners were as follows:

  1. Mastering media

  2. Toys of Our Youth

  3. Young Diplomats

Each of the winning projects receive a grant of 2,000 euros to further develop their projects or to launch new ones. The conference continues in the next days with discussion of project plans for 2009.

EMINENT conference 2008 kicks off

The EMINENT 2008 Conference (Experts' Meeting in Education Networking) kicks off today in Rome, Italy and will continue during tomorrow. You can follow proceedings on the EMINENT conference blog or via the podcast. The first plenary session is now underway with speeches from Giovanni Biondi, Chair of European Schoolnet Steering Committee, Marc Durando, Executive Director of European Schoolnet, and Mike Trucano, Senior ICT in Education Specialist at the World Bank.
