About the Outside of the School
(by Jura Elena & Jolanta)
The school is in the West side of the town, in Geranionu Street. There are flowers, trees and grass around our school. We have got a big, but old stadium by the school, too.
There are small and old villages in the neighborhood in about 3-18 kilometers. Children go to school by bus, on foot. Some parents take children to school by cars.

There is Dieveniskiu Agricultural School and Dieveniskiu Secondary School (with Polish teaching language) next to ours. Besides, there are small primary schools of Jurgelionys and Milkûnai in the neighbourhood. Their students join our school after the four years of study there.

About school’s inside
(by Jolanta, Bozena, Jurgis & Jura E.)Our school has got three floors with fourteen cabinets. The corridors are long with large windows. There are flowers on the windows and there are pictures on the walls.
There is one preschool classroom with small chairs and small desks, a big red carpet, many dolls and little cars. There are books and pencils, the maps of Lithuania and Europe, too.
There are four primary classrooms with pictures and posters on the walls.
There are various cabinets: Music, English/Technology, Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry, History, Lithuanian, Russian, German and others. There is a gym, a canteen, a hall and a library with a reading room, too.
There are many books in the library. Students can do their homework and write reports in the reading room. There is a TV and video in it. The reading room is light with large green plants.
The canteen is light with a large Chinese rose in the corner. There are many tables and chairs in it. The food is tasty, and students and teachers can have their lunch there. The preschool, primary and the fifth class students have lunch at 9.40 am; other students come there at 10.40 am.

There are 220 students in Dieveniskiu Ryto Secondary School, and their age is from 5 to 19 years. There are preschool, primary, basic and secondary classes in our school. There are 100 boys and 120 girls at school. 10 five-six year old children go to the preschool class, 60 seven-ten year old children attend primary classes.
There are fourteen students in our, the fifth, class. The sixth class has got sixteen students. There is twenty one student in the seventh class, twenty eight students in the eighth class and twenty three students in the ninth class. Twenty students are in the tenth class. Classes 5-10 make the Basic stage of our school.
The eleventh and the twelfth year students form the Secondary stage of the school.
There are 23 teachers in our school. 19 teachers are women.
Students must study at school from 8 until 14-15. They must do their home works, too.

Students don’t like angry teachers. But they like good teachers. Good teachers are friendly, kind and clever. Teachers don’t like lazy and noisy students. Students are clever and honest, kind and polite, noisy and rude, lazy and funny, active and passive.

(This is an autumn day in the picture. It is the beginning of the school year. You see – our teachers are cheerful and happy. It means they like the school, and they like teaching us. We like their smiles, too! (Starting from the left – our school headmaster, Ms. Lolita Mikalauskiene, and in the line behind: German teacher, Ms.Spokiene, Sports teacher, Mr. Spokas, Art teacher, Mr. Spirauskas, Lithuanian teacher Ms. Kisielyte, Geography teacher, Mr. Babravicius, Lithuanian teacher , Ms.Baneliene; in front: Lithuanian teacher, Ms Babeckaite, Physics teacher, Ms Piskunova, and Music teacher Mr. Staniulis))

13 teachers at school are tutors. They must take care of their students; a teacher has one class to look after. For example, our tutor, Mrs. Ratkeviciene, is a teacher of Mathematics. She must communicate with our parents and inform them about our records and problems at school. She always knows who is ill, who is absent.
This is a picture of our class and our tutor in front of the school (we are with our student books in the hands).

(by Angelina, Jura E. & Antonina)

You can find lots of after-school activities in our school.
There is a Pop group and a Folk group for music activities.
Children, who like singing, go to the pop group, ‘Bad girls’, those, who like playing folk instruments, go to the folk group, ‘Ausrele’ (the Dawn). There is a primary students’ music group, too.
There are Art and Technology workshops for children who like drawing, painting or designing.
Children like playing and acting. There is a Puppet Show Shop for primary and young students. The elder students go in for Drama studio, “Arlekinas” (‘Harlequin’). They act and perform in Lithuanian there. There is English Drama and Literature Club for students, who like English.
Students can play sports after school. Children like playing square and basketball in Sports Circle. There is a group of Young Tourists, too. Students can explore the neighbourhood after school. Students can learn about woods and forests and native wild nature in the Circle of Young Foresters.
There are Computer after-school classes for primary and senior students who enjoy computer driving.
Disco is very popular at school. We have got some new equipment. Everybody likes DJ Tomas music. Children can dance and have fun every Friday from 6 to 10 pm. However, only students from 8 to 12 classes can enjoy it!

Here you can see some photos about our school life.
We, the fifth year students,
like dancing and singing. We enjoy making our shows ourselves. It’s a pity that we are too young for our school discos

This is ‘Ausrele’, the folk group. Sometimes some boys join it, too. Now you can see the fourth-tenth class schoolgirls in national costumes and with Lithuanian musical instruments.
