These eight values:
freedom, equality, peace, tolerance, democracy,solidarity, human rights & dignity and rule of law
are very important for Europe.
I think they are the right way to have an important result and to build a solid Europe really United in diversity!

libertà, uguaglianza, pace, tolleranza,solidarietà, democrazia,diritti e dignità dell'uomo e rispetto delle leggi
sono sicuramente molto importanti per l'Europa. Credo che siano il giusto punto di partenza per avere importanti risultati e per costruire un Europa solida e veramente unita in tutte le sue diversità!

As a student living in Europe I can see that my life is much easier than if I were a student living in Africa.
I’m more likely to have a roof over my head, electricity, running water money for books and clothes and even for luxuries like computers and mobile phones.
In Europe most people enjoy quite a wealthy life, there is freedom of speech, men and women are closer to being treated as equals than in many other parts of the world and there is a high literacy rate.
Perhaps if African children had all these thing, in their life they would not need to risk their life on a boat coming to Europe to live with dignity.

The values of Europe are like the rails of a train.
Without freedom, equality, peace, tolerance, democracy, solidarity, human rights & human dignity and rule of law the "European Train" can't go on.

I valori dell'Europa sono come i binari di un treno.
Senza libertà, uguaglianza, pace, tolleranza, democrazia, solidarietà, diritti e dignità umana e il rispetto delle leggi il "Treno Europeo" non potrebbe andare avanti.
Secondo me i valori europei sono stati fatti sulla base del diritto/dovere di ogni individuo, cioè ogni cittadino deve rispettare i valori Europei sia per l’Europa sia per la gente stessa, perché i valori sono come 8 pezzi di torta che uniscono l’Europa e se solo uno di questi mancasse non si potrebbe più parlare d’Europa.

I think the European values are based on everybody's respect for rights and duties. Everyone must respect European values for Europe and European people, because the 8 values unite Europe and if one of this missing, we can not talk about Europe any more.

L’Unione Europea è bella e democratica, ma molta gente non è a conoscenza dell’importanza di questo, perché è ignorante in materia. Infatti ci sono persone nel nostro paese che non sanno niente sull’U.E. e quanto questa sia importante nella loro vita quotidiana. L’U.E. adotta un sistema molto complicato per emanare le leggi.Per mia fortuna ho una professoressa di inglese che ci insegna queste interessanti ed importanti notizie in lingua inglese e così oggi io so molto più sull’U.E. degli anni scorsi.
Ma sfortunatamente ci sono molto pochi insegnanti come la mia professoressa di inglese e così molti ragazzi sono totalmente non informati sull’argomento. Nel 2006 noi dobbiamo informarci su questa realtà che è in costante espansione attorno la nostra vita quotidiana.
Per questa ragione, io penso che sarebbe meglio informare la gente su quest’argomento, con conferenze, dibattiti e visite guidate a posti simbolici dell'U.E. .( The Parliament of E.U., the Commission and the E.U. Council ecc…).
Con questa informazione le persone potranno partecipare alla vita politica dell’U.E., che potrà far realizzare questo sogno,in un futuro non così lontano, in una fortissima realtà.

The E.U. is beautiful and democratic, but many people don’t know that it’s important, because these people are not aware. In fact there are a lot of people in our country (especially in south of Italy) that know nothing about E.U. and how very important it is for their life. The E.U. adopts a very complicated system to emanate the laws and not everyone knows the big range of possibility that EU can give its citizens.
I am lucky I have an English teacher who teaches us these very interesting and important new things and so today I know more than before about E.U. as she has been teaching me about it for years.
But unluckily there are so few teachesr like my English teacher and so many guys are totally informed about this topic. In 2006 we must be informed about this reality that is in constant expansion around us and involving our daily life.
For these reasons I think that we had better inform these people about this topic with conferences, debates and visits to the institutions of the E.U. such as the Parliament of E.U., the Commission, the E.U. Council etc…
With this information people could participate to the E.U. political life, that could make this dream, in a future not so far away, become a strong reality.
