Message from Alexander Alvaro
Every day is Europe Day. As a Member of the European Parliament it is my job to promote the work of the EU on all levels. That is why I am always happy to speak to citizens, especially young people, about my work.
There is often a danger of the institutional network being too difficult to understand. I try and change that image of the "irony tower" by chairing a group of Members of the European Parliament that promotes greater transparency and efficiency in the EU, the "Campaign for Parliament Reform" (http://www.ep-reform.net)
One of the important lessons we learned from the rejection of the Constitution, is that we have to explain the objectives of the EU better. People have to know why Europe matters.
