English: Juvenes Translatores - translation contest for 17 year-olds
On 27 November 2008, Juvenes Translatores, the translation contest for 17-year olds organised by the European Commission’s translation department, will take place for the second time. This follows the great interest among schools throughout Europe triggered by last year’s hugely successful first contest . The purpose of the contest is to promote multilingualism in the EU and emphasise the importance of translation as a profession.

During the registration period —1 September – 20 October 2008—secondary schools all over Europe will be invited to register pupils born in 1991. Contestants are free to choose any language pair from and into which to translate from among the EU's 23 official languages.
The 27 winners will be invited to an award ceremony in Brussels with the EU commissioner for multilingualism, Leonard Orban.
